Fire Cider is a warming, decongesting tonic and/or medicine that can be taken daily to aid digestion, warm the system and clear the sinuses. It can also be taken in concentrated dosages for sore throats, colds & flu. I love the flavour and use it in my salads and soups too.

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Grate and chop ingredients. Place in a glass jar and pour apple cider vinegar over the roots.
  2. Cover jar with a plastic lid, or if using a metal lid, make sure to place parchment paper between the glass and metal so the vinegar does not cause a reaction. Let sit for 4 weeks (and shake every once in a while).
  3. After 4 weeks, strain through a cheese cloth into another jar, sweeten to your taste with honey, and store in the fridge.

Recipe Notes

Enjoy 1 tsp. a day for maintenance, or if experiencing acute cold symptoms -  take more throughout the day to warm the body.

Having trained in herbal and cultural medicine, I found the sense of “home” in health food stores. I joined Optimum Health Vitamins in 1997, which later became our family-owned business. I loved working with natural medicines, but wanted to “get my hands dirty” in the herbs and clays and butters. I wanted to flood my senses with the plant world, and wanted to share everything I found with our customers and clients. This is why I founded Kolya Naturals.
