3 Practices to Nurture Your Breasts – Botanically
My newest crush? Living Libations Breast Massage Oil.
Nadine Artemis, the creator of Living Libations, is always bringing gentle and loving awareness to the different parts of our bodies through the products she creates – and she has totally hit the nail on this one… Her products are a beautiful meeting of scent, intention, and information, and this product is no exception.
Breast Massage Oil is a medicinal blend of essential oils used to heal, nourish and detoxify breast tissue. The essential oils within are suggested to reverse or prevent accumulations of toxic imbalance in adipose and lymphatic tissue in the breast. All while having a beautiful, warm, earthy scent.
Bringing some love and attention to our breasts is imperative as they have such an important function in our lives. They sustain and nourish our children, contain an abundance of lymphatic tissue that cleanses our body of toxins, and hopefully, they are a source of pleasure for ourselves. Breast tissue is complex, and as the tissue changes over time, it must deal with the onslaught of environmental, physiological and even emotional fluctuations that we are exposed to throughout our lives. Yet it is important to note that our breasts respond beautifully to nurturing – and an excellent way to do this is through daily massage.
Living Libations explains that “…massage encourages the body to release excess stored estrogen, move debris-fluid away from the spaces between cells, and return the fluid to the bloodstream to be eliminated. Over time, massaging the breasts may also enhance the elasticity of the ligaments in the chest providing improved breast support.”
With Breast Massage Oil in mind, I have created for myself a daily 3 step routine that I follow in the morning or evening (whenever is most convenient). Here is what I suggest:
- While in the shower, take time to explore the health of your breasts. Become aware of their sensations, texture, various lumps and bumps, and also places that are sensitive. At first, it may seem scary to find differences in from one part to the next, but it’s important to remember that breast tissue can be dense or soft. There are a lot of glands and lymph nodes and that will change over the course of a month due to hormonal fluxes and any external trauma they may encounter. The best tool you have for breast health is awareness and taking time every day to get to know them allows you to establish what is “normal” for you. Make sure to examine not just the obvious breasts but also the tissue leading to your armpit, as this is also considered part of the breast.
- After showering I use the Breast Massage Oil. I apply the oil starting at my neck and I pull the oil downwards towards my heart. I gently palpate the area around my collarbone. Both of these areas have large amounts of lymph nodes, so I start there to help facilitate lymph drainage. Next, I apply the oil starting in the armpit and I gently pull it down towards the breast, continuing to gently palpate and massage around the whole breast, still making note of any tissues sensations, and always being gentle and slow to help drain lymph, and aid in healthy blood circulation.
- Lastly, I spend a moment or two sending gratitude and love towards my breasts. I let them know they are wanted and appreciated.
Breast Massage Oil has become a beautiful tool in my daily routine; it prompts me to invest time caring for breasts.
I commit a solid couple minutes every day using the healing power of my own hands, intention and the beautiful essential oils to nourish a part of myself that I may otherwise take for granted.
